05 WG starting to run rough and miss...

Postby 80superbu » Wed Jun 17, 2009 9:19 pm

Bike is an 05 fuel injected model and only has 2600 miles on it. Has Pythons pipes from when it was bought new from dealer. I bought it 2 months ago with 2000 miles and it was running great for about 400 miles. Lately I noticed at 25-30 mph it would get an occasional miss or sneeze if held at a constant speed. 62-65 mph it would miss now and then when holding at a steady speed too. Get on the gas and it smoothed out. The last 2 days has been terrible. Missing often no matter what speeds even up to 85.
Thought about the in tank fuel line problem some were having at half tank or less but still did it on a full tank.
Checked plugs and both were slightly white with no carbon.

Looking for more options to check.

Thanks

You said you bought i t at the dealer ... 2 Months ... One word for you

WARRANTY !!!!!

Got a power commander ?
Tuned Right ?
High Flow Air Cleaner ?

Did you check to see if 05 was hit with the same Service Bulletin about Needing bigger injectors ?

If its a low milage bike and sat for some time I can almost bet the farm that the injectors need either cleaning or replacement

If none of those options work for you
Call me at the shop .. Maybe with more info I can help you out a little more (215) 458-7400 -- Just ask for me .....

I bought it from a guy that bought it new in 2005. He hardly ever rode it...obviously.
No power commander
Plug look good..not too lean or carbon fouled
Stock style air cleaner. Not sure if it's a high flow filter. I'll pull the air cleaner off tomorrow and check out the filter. Lots of "Live to ride" type chrome goodies including the air filter cover.

What's a Power commander run?

Thats a real good sign it's running LEAN ....
No magic cure there .. got to spend a few bucks on a tuner of some sort
I reccomend A Power Commander .. your going to get lots of suggestions ...

Let me tell you this .. Whatever you choose make sure it can be Fine tuned with more
then just the source of three buttons ...
I'll put it this way .. Example :

Strereo System ,,

High-- Mid-- Low ( Three Button )

Spectrum Graphic Equalizer ( Fine tune ) - via Laptop
Most motors that are basically stock with and exhasut and a high flow air filter
can run just fine without a Dyno Tune ...

Need to call ? I'm here from at least 9-5 most Days ... 215-458-7400
